Happy New Year! 2012 already? How did that happen?! I hope you all had fun celebrating/ doing what you wanted to do. I had a great New Year's weekend. As we're going to Paris in February, my husband and I went to see the film Hugo which I really recommend. I then caught up with some of my oldest friends on NYE unexpectedly which was brilliant.
So, I am going to work really hard to make 2012 a year of really positive change. I have thought long and hard about the goals I want to achieve and so I thought writing them down here will commit me to them. Maybe it's the Olympic spirit getting to me.
2012 Challenges
1. Start my own business
Being self employed and owning a store has been my dream for as long as I can remember. This is the year to do it! I finally feel ready to go for it and so I am excited to work on business plans and get planning properly.
2. Travel to see more of the UK
We love travelling and visiting cities (See Paris!). Living so close to mainland Europe is a huge temptation. But the UK is great too and Paul and I want to make more of an effort to visit places in the UK. In 2011 I went to London, the New Forest and snuck in a trip to the Lake District, but there's still much more to see!
3. Learn more about photography!
I love taking photos, I always have done. I want to continue learning and improving my photography, really take it to the next level.
4. Save save save
This is a joint goal and mine and Paul's. It's directly related to challenge number one! But also, we want to save as much money as possible so we have as many opportunities and options as possible.
5. Learn to knit

I would be happy with a complete square! My Mom has tried to teach me before but I struggled majorly. I am now ready to try again and face my casting on/ off demons. Get ready Mom!
6. Make an effort to bridge the gaps in geography
Wise words. My friends and I are scattered around the country. It's easy to just use Facebook and email to keep in touch, but I want to go to the effort of actually meeting them more too. It can only lead to more fun.
7. Try New Recipes
We must have over 40 cook books. I would like to use them. Maybe one new recipe a week? Maybe another challenge would be to stop buying cook books!
8. Continue to blog
I have really, really loved blogging this year. It was a bit 2009 I suppose, but so what ha! Starting Sparrow + Spark! has been great fun and I have connected with some fab people because of it. I want to really develop the blog and learn more about blogging, I truly love it. I love seeing the opportunities it has given other people and I find that very exciting.
So, there you go! I think they're all doable though and they should certainly help make 2012 an interesting year.
What are your goals or resolutions for 2012?
